Leading Pin Crimp Contact AWG 16 bulk - TT9316G-H2

The precision-punched contact, made from a special copper alloy, can be used in all standard housings of the Toughcon® system. It combines good electrical characteristics with a favorable price. It is
available in different coatings and packaging. A large range of conductor cross sections is available.

Advantages of leading contacts:

  • Protection of electronics (ESD / overvoltage):
Ground (GND) is usually connected first - so that sensitive circuits are earthed when plugged in. This protects against electrostatic discharges or unwanted voltages.
  • Power supply first / last:
In some cases, the power supply should only be established after the data connection - or the other way round. Leading contacts ensure that this sequence is adhered to.
  • Hot-plug capability: Devices that may be plugged in ‘during operation’ (e.g. for servers or industrial applications) require a defined contact sequence. (In principle, TT93 contacts are not hot-pluggable, as high current loads can cause arcing when plugged in under load, which destroys the galvanic coating on the contacts - this can be remedied by the intelligent use of leading contacts, at least in one plugging direction). For example, earth is connected first, then data lines, and at the very end the load current.
  • Protection of signal levels / interference immunity:
Control signals or data lines are protected against ‘floating’ states by a defined contact sequence (i.e. they do not have an undefined state).
