Toughcon - Your Partner for special Connectors

Metal and Plastic Circular Connectors

With the Toughcon® circular connector program, Schlicker sets the benchmark in many industrial applications. The Toughcon® connector can be flexibly configured from a tailored modular system of plugs, sockets and accessories - even for the most diverse requirements within an application. This reduces costs, ordering effort and part stockpiling, and simplifies assembly on the production line. Here Schlicker caters to specific customer requests. High operating reliability and cost transparency speak for themselves. Sales only to business customers (B2B).

One system - 1000 configurations

Each outer connector housing offers an almost unlimited number of options for accommodating different inserts and specific contacts. The large number of insulators (inserts) allows the contact positions to be optimised. The housing can be fitted with up to 37 contacts.

Configurable to your needs

The Toughcon connector is configured from metal and plastic housings as well as three contact types to create plugs and sockets. An end housing with integrated PFLITSCH© cable gland and application-specific sealing inserts for different cable diameters is available for secure cable outlet at the connector. Sealing, strain relief, kink protection and the connection of protective conduits and corrugated conduits to the circular connectors are easily achieved. A wide range of other terminations are also available to meet specific customer requirements. From simple strain relief to various adapters and end housings with heat shrinkable tubing, everything is available.Open configurator

Robust trapezoidal Thread

Toughcon industrial connectors have a trapezoidal thread for one-handed insertion. The plastic and extra rugged metal versions are mateable. The trapezoidal thread with end locking makes the connection vibration resistant and easy to open and close.

Advantages of the bayonet lock:

  • Fast locking - The connector can be locked with a short turn (usually ¼ or ⅓ turn), whereas a metric screw connection requires several turns.
  • Easy handling - no tools required, which speeds up assembly and disassembly. While usually costly torque spanners have to be used for the professional assembly of metric connectors-
  • Secure locking - The bayonet mechanism locks into place and prevents unintentional loosening due to vibrations or tensile load
  • The locking - gives the user secure feedback that the assembly is vibration-proof.
  • Better for frequent mating and unmating - Ideal for applications where the connector needs to be disconnected and reconnected regularly.
  • Vibration resistance - Thanks to the latching mechanism, the bayonet lock withstands mechanical loads better than a screw connection, which can come loose due to vibrations.

Conclusion:

Bayonet fittings are particularly advantageous in rapidly changing or vibration-intensive environments (e.g. military, aviation, railway technology, medical technology). Metric screw connections are more suitable for permanent, mechanically resilient and tight connections.

Ready-made cable-connector units

Advantages of pre-assembled cables/connectors: In a direct cost comparison, ready-to-install Toughcon connectors with overmoulded cables perform significantly better than cable harnesses assembled manually by the user. In addition, the overall quality of a finished assembly is reproducible, as the assembly is done by a machine.
Cutting cables to length, stripping cable ends, crimping contacts, inserting contacts, fitting end housings, binding and testing cables: We take care of all these for you upon request.
